Henry is 12, and this was his idea. He worked out that the expensive part of looking at a roof is getting a person up there, and that a drone does not have that problem. He does the flying, the footage and the write-up.
He has passed the CAA theory test and holds a current Flyer ID in his own name. He knows the height limits, the airspace restrictions and the rules on flying near people and property, because he had to sit an exam on them.
He is not running it on his own. His dad holds the CAA Operator ID, buys the insurance, is present at every flight, and answers every enquiry that comes through this page. You are dealing with an adult from the first email to the invoice.
None of which is a reason to book out of kindness. What you get is every elevation of your roof on video and a written report on what is up there, carefully done. It is cheap because he is doing it for parts money, not for a living.
Henry is building an autonomous boat — one that steers itself between waypoints with nobody holding a controller.

For the avoidance of doubt: bookings, payment and questions go to his dad, not to Henry. An adult is present for the whole visit, and Henry does not attend a job on his own.
What you actually get
Most people book because water is coming in somewhere and nobody can tell them why, or because a roofer has quoted for work on a part of the roof they have never seen. You end up holding the pictures.

Some addresses sit in restricted airspace. We check the same day and tell you straight away if the answer is no.
We fly on Saturdays, working through one area at a time, so we come when we are next your way. About twenty minutes on site, from your garden or the pavement. You don't need to be in.

Henry does the flying, the footage and the write-up. He holds a CAA Flyer ID in his own name, which means he has sat and passed the exam on the rules. His dad holds the Operator ID, carries the insurance, is there for every flight and handles every booking. If you would rather an adult flew it, say so when you book — his dad holds a Flyer ID too.
No. We fly from your garden or from the pavement. You don't need to be in, though it is easier if you are, because you can point at the bit that is bothering you.
We don't fly in heavy rain or high wind — the footage is useless and the drone is at risk. We rebook you, free. You are not charged until the video and report land in your inbox, so a cancelled flight costs you nothing.
We fly over yours. Where a roof slope can only be seen from over next door's garden, we ask them first. If they would rather we didn't, the report says which elevation we couldn't cover.
Close enough to pick out a slipped, cracked or missing tile, a split or sagging gutter joint, failed flashing at a chimney, moss packed into a valley, and open pointing on a stack. Not close enough to tell you whether the timber underneath has gone — nothing that looks at a roof from outside can.
No, and that is deliberate. We look, record and tell you. We are happy to say what to ask a roofer for, but we take nothing from the work and we don't recommend firms.
Some addresses sit in restricted airspace — near an airport or aerodrome, a prison, or certain public buildings. We check when you send the postcode, before you have paid anything. If we can't fly it, we say so the same day.
The files are yours. We keep a copy for twelve months in case you lose yours, and we don't publish footage of anyone's property without asking first.
